Apart from some fine trimming this was completed in one session in a large studio with wall to wall windows facing to the South and West.

Over the course of the afternoon the transit of the sun brought light in from all sides and, with growing warmth, pierced through the tree-line immediately outside the glass envelloping her contours by turn.

There was a multitude of materials, textiles and objects scattered around the studio and her flesh was wilfully it seemed, picking them all up in turn.

I given her instruction not to allow me to step any closer than an outstretched arms length from the canvas which kept my brushes big and the brushmarks gestural. I think that sunny afternoon feel comes through
